River Clean Up
We are just checking with folks who would be interested in joining us for a river clean-up Sunday August 21st. I hope to have about 10 canoes to run the stretch from Meridian Park to Chippewaters Park. This will be the day after the big tubing event (as I call in Tubepocyclypse (see link) Right now we are still putting pieces of the puzzle together but we hope to get some good volunteers!
Volunteers will get a canoe for the trip, discounts on a later trip and other prizes. Donations will be accepted for the Chippewa Watershed Conservancy (see link). Please contact me if interested
River back up, boats can go down to Deerfield and Meridian Park!
Low water
Don't be low just because the water is! The lack of recent rain and high heat index has left our river with some fairly low water levels. However most of the river is still completely navagable. The one section from Majeske Landing to Winn Rd does have spots where people are likely to have to get out of their boats to move to higher water.
So we have adjusted our trips for a temporary time to accomodate water levels, and people's desires in this heat to spend time on the water!
The River Rd- Buckley's and School Rd to Buckley's are not affected by changes.
Here are some new trip options for downriver experience:
School Rd to Majeske landing. Add an hour to the School Rd trip by paddling by Buckley's into the gravel pit and spending some time swimming, 40 a canoe, 22 a kayak
School Forest (Winn Rd) to Meridian Park- 3-4 hours a nice parks experience 44 a canoes, 26 a kayak
School Forest- Chippewaters 5-7 hours, a relaxing, long time on the water, 48 a canoe, 29 a kayak
Prices are affected by the additional transporation involved in these trips. We hope to resume regualr trips soon- so start the rain dances, spider killing, sprinkling water on cats or whatever methods you use to bring the rain down!
Call to reserve your trip today and start cooling off!River Hopping!
Did you know Buckley's is not only an excellent canoe livery on the Chippewa River in Mount Pleasant Michigan but is also a destination for non-profit groups looking for a fundraiser?
If your non-profit group is looking for a fundraiser talk to me today about how we can help organize a trip that will be a great experience for your group and help raise money for your cause.
We hosted some great folks from Grow Saginaw, a Saginaw based community garden program this weekend. They enjoyed a trip down the river and made some money towards building a greenhouse for their gardens.
Later this month we will have the 3rd Annual River Hopping for a Cure to raise money for CDKL5 ( a rare nuerological disorder) research. Check out this link to buy tickets for the event.
This Thursday we are doing a special event for the CDKL5 Fundraiser. Give back 2X and join our river clean-up crew from Buckley's to Deerfield 12-5pm. Suggested donation of $12 per person to CDKL5 research Buckley's will provide the clean-up bags, canoes, kayaks and shuttle at no charge! Call to reserve your boat!
